The word legend does not do justice to Jack Tramiel, the father of the Commodore 64, the best selling single personal computer model of all time, passed away on Sunday at the ripe old age of 83.

It would be an understatement to call Jack one of the most influential men of all time, as his role will forever be etched in history as contributing tot he rise and growth of personal computing as we know it.

“Jack Tramiel was an immense influence in the consumer electronics and computing industries. A name once uttered in the same vein as Steve Jobs is today, his journey from concentration camp survivor to captain of industry is the stuff of legends,”says Martin Goldberg, a writer working on a book about the Atari brand and the early days of video games and computing with Atari Museum founder Curt Vendel.

You can read a lot of articles, posts and biographical information on the man all over the internet.

The Commodore 64 has a special place in my heart along with the Sinclair ZX Spectrum+ as the machines that introduced me to computing and planted that early thirst for all things technological.

The legendary Jaguar E-Type, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, is considered one of the most iconic cars of all time.

It comes as no surprise then that a company out of Coventry in the UK is rekindling the passion for the icon with a 21st century interpretation of what the E-Type might have looked like had it been developed today.

Behold, the Lyonheart K, a mountain of a task since there is no involvement from Jaguar.

Our goal at Lyonheart Cars is to make the ‘Made In England’ label into a truthful concept, not just a statement. Every part of a Lyonheart car is developed, engineered and hand-built in England.

From the pictures you can see that is seems to take some styling cues from that other British icon, Aston Martin, but more or less remains true to the spirit of the E-Type – the long bonnet with the bulge down the middle that carries on to the roof.

More detail on the features can be found on the website.

With only a limited production run, it comes at a pretty hefty price tag of EUR 495,000 (US$ 655,529) and an 18 month waiting period for delivery.
